Rob Stein

Rob Stein


Rob has worked on the front lines of education reform for over 30 years, as a teacher, administrator, university professor, and educational consultant. Stein led a high-profile turnaround effort at Manual High School and has served as head of school at Graland Country Day School and executive director at Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning, all in Denver. He has taught courses in educational leadership and school reform at University of Colorado, Denver University, and Harvard Graduate School of Education. Stein has published, presented, and consulted locally and nationally on organizational development, school leadership, research-based practice and school change.  He joined the Roaring Fork Schools in 2013.

When not working: running, skiing, cycling, reading, and service activities

Shannon Pelland

Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Superintendent

Shannon has worked for the Roaring Fork Schools for over 20 years. During her tenure, she was instrumental in the passage of two bond elections and three mill levy overrides to improve educational opportunities for Roaring Fork students and families. She has supervised finance, food service, student transportation, and facilities. She graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in business administration/accounting.

After college, Shannon worked for Ernst & Young as a CPA providing consulting and auditing services to a variety of clients. As a student of Roaring Fork Schools, she was excited to return to the Valley to use her background in finance to support public education. She is a firm believer in balanced budgets, financial transparency, and students at the center of all decisions.

When not working: hiking, music, bird-watching, flower gardening and spending time with friends, husband John, sons Will and DJ and extended family

Favorite book: Undaunted Garden, and anything by Barbara Kingsolver

Jeff Gatlinjeff

Chief Operating Officer

Jeff has been in education since 2003 as a coach, educator and administrator.  He has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado and Master's of Education degree from University of Texas at Arlington.  He has led various technology and operational initiatives with the goal to provide exceptional service and support for those he serves. He joined Roaring Fork School District in 2013.

When not working: spending time with his family (wife Melissa, daughter Carly and son Hayes) and taking advantage of the vast number of recreational opportunities this beautiful area has to offer

Rick Holtrick

Chief Academic Officer

Rick began his career as a high school science teacher in Seattle and made his way to Alaska where he taught most subjects in a small K-12 school. It was during his years in Alaska that he became a K-12 instructional coach and, a few years later, a consultant for the Reinventing Schools Coalition. Rick took a short break from education to build a house and run the Iditarod with his wife Tiffany and their two boys Keegan and Rohnan.

In 2008, Rick accepted a position as Principal of Carbondale Middle School, and over the next few years, Rick and his staff worked to together to earn the Governor's Improvement Award. Rick joined the district’s executive team in 2013, serving as Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for three years, and then as Chief Academic Officer.

When not working: Adventuring with his family, rafting, hiking, skiing, and maintaining balance between work and play.

Angie Davlynangie

Senior Project Manager

Angie is an experienced project manager and strategist with a background in communication and a passion for education. She has a MA and PhD in Communication from the University of Colorado, and has taught college courses in applied communication for over a decade. Prior to joining the Roaring Fork Schools, Angie was the development director for a local youth-serving nonprofit and worked on issues of health equity and poverty for a Denver-based social change consulting firm. She lives in Carbondale with her husband and two young kiddos and serves on two nonprofit boards dedicated to promoting creative educational opportunities for youth.

When not working: mountain adventures--favorites include skiing, hiking, camping, and river trips, kitchen experimentation, good music, and travel to far-off places

Kelsy Been

Kelsy is from Garfield County and has worked in a variety of communications roles for educational organizations throughout her professional career. Previously, she has worked as the External Relations Manager for an early childhood nonprofit in Wyoming and also as the Garfield County Libraries' Grant Coordinator. In all of her roles, Kelsy has worked to improve the educational opportunities and access for all, with a focus on disadvantaged groups. Kelsy has a Bachelor's degree from Amherst College and a Master's in Public Administration from the University of Wyoming. Kelsy lives in Marble with her husband. 

When not working: exploring the mountains while trail running, skiing, and backpacking and then reading, cooking, and petting canines on rest days.

Amy Littlejohn

Director of Human Resources

Born and raised in Westminster, Colorado, Amy previously served as the Director of Human Resources for the Bellevue Union School District in Sonoma County, California from 2012-2018. She has worked in a number of different fields including education, medical, legal, and hospitality. Throughout her professional career, her focus has always been on people, offering her time and expertise to ensure that each employee has been set up for success. Amy earned a Bachelor's Degree from Sonoma State University and holds the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification.

When not working: Raising two young boys with her husband, hiking, snowboarding, and attending art/music/food festivals
